My wife Sara and I are lifelong residents of Fond du Lac County, and currently reside in the Town of Oakfield at the northern tip of the beautiful Horicon Marsh.  In December, we will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.  We enjoy donating time to local non-profit organizations that give back to our community, attending mass and other activities at Holy Family Catholic Community, spending time with family and friends, and interacting with residents across Fond du Lac County at the great events offered here year-round! In our free time we love traveling and enjoying the vast opportunities our great state and country have to offer, but equally enjoy a little quiet time together at home, too.

I am an avid outdoorsman who likes to hunt, spend time in our great outdoors, and any activity that involves sitting in the tractor seat including tilling and planting food plots, mowing, landscaping, or snow-blowing. I also enjoy working on vehicles, off-roading in our Jeep or UTV and running or biking to relieve stress and get some exercise.  â€‹

My career with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office began in 1998 when Sheriff Jim Gilmore hired me as a Deputy Reserve.  Since then, I have worked and trained hard to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to successfully lead the Sheriff's Office as detailed in the sections below. You can also see my career progression on the "Through the Ranks" page.

Throughout my career I have served as a certified instructor in many disciplines. This role has afforded me the opportunity to train and educate many of my fellow colleagues, as well as citizens throughout the community.

Trained deputies in the proper use of their firearms and when they are legally justified to use deadly force to protect themselves and others.

  • A Day In Our Boots

Utilizing our VirTra police training simulator, our Use of Force instructors and I have shared a first-hand glimpse into the split-second decision making deputies face during different situations. Citizens, business owners, faith community leaders and elected officials from the local, county, state and federal level have all participated in this opportunity.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations

Trained both Sheriff's Office Deputies as well as recruit academy students at Marian University.

  • Vehicle Contacts

Trained deputies on the tactics of how to safely approach motor vehicles in situations ranging from a routine traffic stop to a high risk stop.

  • Stop the Bleed

Working in conjunction with other first responder instructors from fire, EMS, and our local hospital system, this training teaches citizens how to provide medical care to themselves and others if injured in an active shooter situation.

  • Civilian Response to Active Shooter

Trained county employees and citizens on how to respond in the event of an active shooter situation.
